Motorcycle 12v Electrical Accessories
Sat Nav's - GPS - Smart phones - iPhones - iPads - cameras - GoPro cameras - heated vests - heated gloves - battery chargers - etc, etc. As motorcyclists we are now carrying an increasing amount of "essential" electrical equipment with us on our travels which need powering and charging on the move. We have a wide range of plugs, sockets and cables to help you on your way. We have both DIN and Cigarette type sockets and cables to suit all sorts of accessories. Of course, most electrical items that need charging on your bike come with a USB cable, and we have a range of USB chargers available also.
DIN plugs and sockets in particular can cause some confusion as they are often called by a variety of names, but are essentially the same thing. DIN sockets are a standard sized accessory socket as fitted by BMW, Triumph, Ducati and others. DIN is simply the German standard sizing these type of sockets and plugs conform to. They are variously known as DIN sockets, Hella sockets, Powerlet sockets, etc - but they are all the same size and all accept standard DIN plugs. DIN sockets are better suited to motorcycle use as they are more compact, robust and provide a much more secure and reliable connection than cigarette type sockets that most Japanese bikes use.
How to tell which type of Accessory Socket is fitted to your bike? - The simplest way to check, is to measure the socket diameter. DIN type sockets are 12 mm in diameter and a Cigarette type socket is 22 mm.
